Privacy policy

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account and registration information — your name, email address, phone number, company/operator name, and credentials.
  • Operator-claim information — the operator you claim and information used to confirm your authority to act for it.
  • Payment information — billing details and a payment method, processed by our payment processor. We do not store full payment-card numbers.
  • Customer Data — the well, production, document, equipment, workover, expense, pumper-log, and related information you submit to or generate in the Service.
  • Communications — information you provide when you contact us, submit a form, subscribe to updates, or request support.

Information we collect automatically

When you use the Service we automatically collect device, log, and usage information (for example, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, actions taken, and timestamps) and information collected through cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from third parties

We receive information from public sources and service providers, including state regulatory filings (for example, state oil and gas regulatory agencies), our payment processor, and analytics and marketing providers.

2. How we use information

We use information for any lawful purpose related to operating and improving our business, including to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, secure, and support the Service;
  • create and manage your Account and verify operator identity, including by contacting the operator at the contact information on file with the relevant state regulator;
  • process payments and manage billing;
  • develop, train, test, and improve our models, algorithms, analytics, and the Service, including the AI Output the Service generates;
  • generate, analyze, and act on usage, research, and product analytics;
  • communicate with you, including service and transactional messages and, where permitted, marketing (you may opt out of marketing at any time);
  • personalize and improve your experience;
  • create and use aggregated or de-identified information as described in Section 4;
  • detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security, and technical issues; and
  • comply with law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Wellsite, our users, and others.

We may use information for additional purposes disclosed to you or with your consent.

3. Customer Data

As between you and Wellsite, you own your Customer Data. We use Customer Data to provide the Service to you and to develop, train, and improve the models and analytics that power the Service. We do not sell your Customer Data, and we do not share it with other operators or expose one operator's data to another. We will not publish or disclose your Customer Data in a form that identifies you or your wells except as you direct (for example, by sharing a Wellsite Report), as described in this Policy, or as required by law. You may export your Customer Data, and if you leave Wellsite it leaves with you. This Section is consistent with, and supplemented by, Section 8 of the Terms of Use.

4. Aggregated and de-identified information

We may create aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information from any data we collect, including Customer Data, and we may use, retain, and disclose that information for any lawful purpose, including to operate, analyze, train, and improve the Service and our models and to publish industry insights. Aggregated and de-identified information does not identify you or any individual operator, and we will not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law. Our rights in aggregated and de-identified information survive termination of your Account.

5. How we share information

  • Service providers and subprocessors — vendors that perform services for us, such as hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, analytics, communications, customer support, security, and AI/model infrastructure, under obligations to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us.
  • At your direction — for example, recipients of Wellsite Reports you choose to share, and people you invite to your Account.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business or assets.
  • Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wellsite, our users, or others, or to enforce our agreements.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your Customer Data with other operators.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate, secure, analyze, and improve the Service and for marketing. For details and your choices, see our Cookie Policy.

  • Export — you can export your Customer Data as described in the Service.

U.S. state privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of certain personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or certain targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, contact us at legal@wellsite.com. We will verify your request as required by law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a right. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits, subject to verification.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, for our legitimate business purposes (such as security, analytics, model development, dispute resolution, and enforcing our agreements), and to comply with our legal obligations. We may retain aggregated and de-identified information indefinitely.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest. Information is hosted in the United States. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Users outside the United States

The Service is operated from, and information is processed and stored in, the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your location, and you consent to that transfer and processing.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites and services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, in the Service or by email) and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
